Just a short train ride from Edinburgh there is a city called Glasgow. In the City of Glasgow there is a Knitting Cafe called The Yarn Cake. In the Yarn Cake there are cakes, delicious, mouthwatering ones and yarn, again delicious and droolworthy..like the Yarn Yard, Drops and Malabrigo.
The Yarn Cake will be one year old in October so to celebrate their birthday they are holding a knitting event, the Glasgow School of Yarn on 21st-22nd October. There will be cake, yarn and knitting classes. The teachers lined up are Ann Kingstone, Amy Singer, Stephen West and Carol Feller.
A knitting design competition is being run to coincide with the Glasgow School of Yarn. The competition is being organised in collaboration with the Macintosh Society and entries are invited for either knit or crochet designs inspired by the work of the Glasgow architect and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Details of the rules, submission guidelines, deadlines etc can be found here;
I am delighted to offer a copy of the StitchMastery Knitting Fonts Collection and Knitting Chart Editor as prizes alongside other great goodies. Even if you have never designed anything before why not give it a go? Up to 3 designs can be submitted by any one individual.
